The Magic of the TL Sound
Sundays 8PM - MIDNIGHT
When Terry Lee was just 16, he began spinning records at high school dances, and soon landed his first on-air job at WESA in Charleroi. At the age of 21 he would join WMCK 1360 in McKeesport, which later became WIXZ. During the turbulent times of the 60's, he was one of the top rated disc jockeys in the city, and his signature Music For Young Lovers segment was one of the most successful programs in Pittsburgh radio history. His record hops at the Nite Train, Redd's Beach, White Elephant, Red Rooster, Lebanon Lodge, Burke Glenn Ballroom, Varsity House, and many other venues throughout the Pittsburgh area were known to attract 1,000 or more local teens each night.
As a successful concert promoter and record producer, Terry managed and produced records by local bands like the Fantastic DeeJays, Swamp Rats, and the Fenways, to name a few. In addition, he hosted the TV dance shows Come Alive on WIIC and The Terry Lee Show on KDKA and WPGH.
After leaving Pittsburgh, he moved to Phoenix where he contributed to the library of the Kool Gold music format on Satellite Music Network and was able to broadcast his radio show live across the country, to the delight of transplanted Pittsburghers everywhere. Over the years, his passion for broadcasting led to ownership of radio stations in Florida and Ohio. Now, after more than 20 years, TL has returned to his hometown, bringing his unique sound to nighttime Pittsburgh once again. Listen to WJAS 1320AM Sunday nights to bring back magical memories, and fall in love again with Terry Lee's Music For Young Lovers.
