Chris Shovlin
Chris Shovlin, a veteran fixture on the WJAS morning show from 1991 until 2008, now hosts his very own program from 3 to 7 p.m. weekdays. Chris also serves as Renda Broadcasting Corporation Pittsburgh’s Director of Marketing & Promotion, a position he has held since 1995 at all three Pittsburgh stations (WISH 99.7 and Money Talk WMNY are the others). He originally came to RBC as the morning Sports Anchor on WISH 99.7 in 1991 and soon became News and Sports Anchor and morning show sidekick to both Jack Wheeler and later Jack Bogut on 1320 WJAS. Chris is also the longtime voice of the Robert Morris University Basketball and Football teams, the lead play-by-play voice on Comcast TV in the Pittsburgh region for high school football and basketball, for the Pittsburgh Riverhounds pro soccer team on radio, and he can be seen calling Pittsburgh Passion women’s pro football games on FSN Pittsburgh.
In 2008, Shovlin became the first radio announcer to win three Pittsburgh March of Dimes A.I.R. Awards in three different sports. Chris began his career at WBZY-AM in New Castle and worked at WMBA-AM in Ambridge. He then moved to WBVP-AM in Beaver Falls and rose through the ranks to become Vice President and General Manager of WBVP and its sister station WWKS-FM before arriving at Renda Broadcasting in Pittsburgh. He was inducted into the Beaver County Sports Hall of Fame in 2006, and is a native of Midland, PA where a park is named in honor of his late father, William F. “Bill” Shovlin, who served as Mayor for 16 years. Chris and his wife Odette have two daughters; Kylie and Krista and reside in Brighton Township (Beaver County). He is a member and past President of the Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School Board. The Chris Shovlin Show airs from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday on 1320 WJAS.
