Pittsburgh, PA, September 26, 2013 – “An Italian Holiday” is the theme of the 12th annual Hearts and Hands Gala to be held at 7 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 2 at Scotus Hall at Mount Alvernia on the campus of the Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities, 146 Hawthorne Road in Millvale, Pa. Each $100 ticket donation automatically gives ticketholder a chance to win a seven night stay for two in Rome, Italy as well as a $1,500 cash prize. Additional guest ticket is $25, or for those who simply want to attend the gala, donation is $25 per person. This year’s gala will feature a live art auction with works from local artists, Italian style desserts, fine wine and timeless music with proceeds benefitting the Change A Heart Franciscan Volunteer Program, a ministry of the Sisters of St. Francis.
Change A Heart is raffling a limited 250 tickets at $100 each for a chance to win this exciting stay at the Frattina apartment in the heart of historic Rome next to the Spanish Steps. Winner will be announced at the gala event and need not be present to win.
Based in Pittsburgh, Pa., the Change A Heart: Franciscan Volunteer Program is a 12-month service experience that empowers young adults to live simply in community while serving a vulnerable population.
Proceeds from this event make it possible for Change A Heart members to provide essential services to vulnerable individuals and populations; help nonprofits further their missions; foster volunteerism; create social capital; inspire and train young leaders for a life of faith-filled service.

Change A Heart is the only Catholic young adult service program in southwest Pennsylvania that invites recent college graduates to live and serve in the Franciscan spirit. In the last five years, 31 members have served 31,727.75 hours in direct service with people in poverty. A total 38,733 individuals were served in the areas of education, health and wellness and social services.
