The Neighborhood Ford Store will unveil a 2012 “Warriors in Pink” quilt to be hung on permanent display at the Forbes Regional Hospital Breast Care Center.
The unveiling will occur on Monday, October 8 at 4 p.m. in the Breast Care Center located in Professional Office Building 2, Suite 303 on Forbes Regional’s campus.
The quilt will provide hope to those battling the disease and serve as a reminder of the fight to defeat it. Every square of the hand-stitched quilt represents a story, and together they create a symbol of courage and the unified effort to beat breast cancer. Individual fabric squares were decorated by breast cancer survivors, their families and supporters from throughout the region. They include words of hope and encouragement for those fighting breast cancer, and remembrance for those who lost their battle. Local volunteer quilters spent the summer piecing together those squares into the 2012 Warrior Quilts. Local volunteer quilter, Liz Grinko, spent countless hours piecing together nearly 100 squares to create this quilt for Forbes Regional.
Launched in 2006, Ford’s national Warriors in Pink campaign recognizes the strength and courage necessary to deal with the everyday challenges of fighting breast cancer. To date, Ford has dedicated more than $115 million to the cause.
This was the fifth year for the Neighborhood Ford Store’s “Warriors in Pink” Quilt program. Neighborhood Ford Store is a group of 82 Ford dealers in southwest Pennsylvania, southeast Ohio and the panhandles of Maryland and West Virginia
